These units measure "electrization", or areic density of electric charge, which subsumes (1) electric displacement field (typically symbolized ), which represents the effective projection of charge to a surrounding surface; and (2) polarization density (typically symbolized ), which represents the volumic density of electric dipole moments in a dielectric material.
